Packages!- My Art of Morrigan Book and Business Cards!

Today marks the arrival of my New Designers hard copies! My 'Blurb' book 'The Art of Morrigan' arrived today alongside my 'Moo.com' business cards. Very pleased with the products to say the least!
Now there's finally a tangible way to show some of my CG art work! (Please excuse the bed covers. I was too excited to photograph them that I didn't try to sort out the best backdrop or lighting)

Business Card Designs

Using renders from several different projects I've pieced together the business cards below. I hope to get all five designs printed with duplicates of the rear information panel across all of them.

Morrigan Animation- The Latest Edit... SO CLOSE

There's ALWAYS room for improvement. I've been titivating the animation some more, correcting some annoying bits and pieces. New vignette, sound adjustments, some new fight scene shots and corrective renders. The animations a wee bit longer now, but feeling more complete than ever before. Hopefully there's time for a few more changes. I'll keep you all posted on that! But for now....

The Art of Morrigan

I now have a condensed PDF book entailing the art and development behind my animated short 'Morrigan'. I have had the work made into a hardback book by Blurb.com. Below however is an embedded link to the entire PDF document on the Blurb reader.

Preparing the Artwork

This weekend has predominantly consisted of creating a layout for 'The Art of Morrigan.' Soon to be a bound book with any luck! Here are some of the page layouts in preview.

Plodding Onward!

So I've been revisiting some scenes in need of further tweaking. The hags cloak in her final scene now behaves more normally. A little less flipping out. And of late some additional abstract fight scenes have been coming to light! Sharp angles and stark silhouettes prove to be bold! I can't wait to cut these scenes together with my existing fight scenes!

'Morrigan'- The latest version!

Here is the latest version of my animated short 'Morrigan'. There's still room for tweaking and there will be much of it, right up until New Designers. Additional sounds, some tweaks to various scenes a little more emotion a slightly different camera angle. -- Its all coming together!

Re-Animating- The Transformation Scene

Just trying to complete the scene leading up to 'The Fall'. So upon realizing how little the Warrior knew about the woman he loved, he has mistakenly back away right up to the cliff edge.... where he slips. Now we descend into slower motion as the Warrior meets his inevitable doom.

I've made a few shock/react shots of both the warrior and Morrigan to ease into the final tragic shot.

Blast from the Past- Lucy Upgraded

I've worked into Lucy a little more. Now she has a slightly different pose and there have been a few changes to her dress texture. Subtle ones. Additionally there were hairbands to hold up those  bunches.

Finally there were some additional hair changes and a little highlight on her eye that just complete her look!

Blast From the Past- Lucy!! the Upgrade

Shes back again and in need of some more tweaking. The dodgy hair is fixed and now for some experiment in her skin. This kid is undergoing all kinds of skin treatment! I've been introduced to a new material in Maya called 'Mila' it makes for an easier to control and in some cases more effective material for subsurface scattering. She's instantly looking more lifelike. (Having been through delicate porcelain doll, to spooky waxwork.)

From anaemic to tanned!

I am still working on her skin. The above changes were through revisiting my original texture. Since then a few alterations such as adding a light to combat the harsh dark shadow beneath her jaw have really lifted things. Her ear no longer glows like there's a candle behind it! And her hair was darkened for a nicer contrast to her dress.

Light hair/Dark Hair

Next I applied the miracle Mila shader to the arms and legs. And then I gave her shiny shoes! Next step is to fix her elbows and try to sort textures that were added to her dress. AND add those illusive ribbons to her hair!

Re-Animating- The Transformation Scene

This is the part of the animation in which my original submission was a let-down. The animation was not complete, let alone rendered. As it turns out the whole scene needed revisiting and breaking down into a series of shorter clips. Having had some great discussions really emphasizing character acting I've managed to figure out the following sequence and playblasted them.

At this point in the story the Barbarian the Warrior had been fighting has been forced over the edge of the Ravine by Morrigan and her crows. Now the Warrior finds himself facing a Hag, who is in fact his love, Morrigan, in disguise.
